Kucherov opened up the scoring with a snipe more than halfway into the first period:

Mitchell Stephens sets up down low and is able to tip home Victor Hedman’s shot into the net to extend the Lightning’s lead 2-0:

Richard Panik finds the loose puck inside the crease and taps it into the net to get the Capitals on the board in the 2nd:

Evgeny Kuznetsov slams the rebound into the net on the power play, tying the game at 2 late in the 2nd period:

A 5 minute overtime didn’t settle anything so off to the shootout we went:

The Lightning would take the shootout 2-1 and in doing so secured 2 points with the victory. The Capitals skate away with one point in the shootout loss.
