Minnesota Wild Head Coach Invites Winnipeg Jets Head Coach to Fight
Yesterday night’s game between the Winnipeg Jets and the Minnesota Wild had season-ending implications.
As expected, things became heated.
The playoffs were at stake for the Winnipeg Jets last night. A win would lock them in to the last available spot in the western conference, whereas a loss would put them neck and neck with the Nashville Predators.
The Jets brought everything they had, and managed a meaningful 3-1 win, backdropped by a stellar .971 save percentage from Connor Helleybuck.
The victory was not without controversy, as a fight between Wild head coach Dean Evason and Jets head coach Rick Bowness behind the bench stole some of the spotlight.
Bowness was enraged when Evason threw Ryan Reaves on the ice with less than a minute remaining with the sole intention of starting a fight.
Bowness was upset Evason put Reaves on the ice with less than a minute to go to fight. Bowness yelled over to Evason “That’s f*king bullshit!”, and Evason responded with the gesture of inviting Bowness to fight him.
