Canada Routs Italy In 2014 Ice Hockey World Championship
It was poutine, not spaghetti, on the menu at the world hockey championships Friday as the Canadians downed the Italians 6-1.
Joel Ward opened the scoring 13 minutes into the first period and the Canadians took it from there, highlighted by a two-goal performance from Cody Hodgson, as well as markers from Jason Chimera, Kyle Turris and Brayden Schenn.
James Reimer made 21 stops on 22 shots for his second win of the tournament.
With the win, Canada improves to 4-0-1-0 but remains a point back of undefeated Sweden for first place in Group A.
The Canadians will take on those very same Swedes Sunday at 9:45 a.m. EST.
