BREAKING: Jack Eichel Traded To Knights
The Jack Eichel era in Buffalo is mercifully over.
Tuesday night during the ESPN’s NHL broadcast, Emily Kaplan said that the Eichel trade had reached “the one-yard line,” with the final deal down to Calgary or Vegas.
It appears Vegas was the winner.
Pending trade call, The @BuffaloSabres trade Jack Eichel and a 2023 3rd round pick, to the @GoldenKnights for Peyton Krebs, Alex Tuch, a 1st in 2022 and a 3rd in 2023.

Even though the Flames reportedly offered Matthew Tkachuk as part of the deal, the Sabres were clearly looking for more futures in the trade with Tuch being a former Minnesota 18th overall pick in 2014 who hasn’t scratched his full potential in Vegas. Krebs was the 17th overall pick in 2019 and Sabres GM Kevyn Adams must like the upside he possesses.
Dreger also reports the Knights are allowing Eichel to have his disc replacement surgery soon.
The expectation is Eichel will have disc replacement surgery very soon. Recovery time varies. Everyone hopeful he will be back on the ice in 4 months. https://t.co/PzLx7H0jpC

The 25-year-old has five years left on an eight-year, $80 million contract, which features a no-trade clause that kicks in next summer.
Eichel, picked second overall out of Boston University in the 2015 NHL Draft, has 139 goals and 176 assists for 355 points in 375 career NHL games.
