Flyers Zolnierczyk Suspended for Four Games
The NHL has suspended Philadelphia Flyers forward Harry Zolnierczyk for four games for charging Ottawa Senators defenseman Mike Lundin. The incident took place during the first period of the Flyers 2-1 victory over the Senators this past Saturday. The 25-year-old will be without pay during the suspension and will end up forfeiting $12,972.96 of his average annual salary.
Zolnierczyk appeared to have left his feet to deliver the hit on Lundin and he received a game misconduct as well as a major penalty on the play. Lundin has since been diagnosed with a concussion, adding to an already injury-depleted Senators team.
The Flyers forward has appeared in six games so far this year with the club and has notched one assist alongside 36 penalty minutes. He regularly plays on the team’s fourth line and is more known for his physicality than his goal scoring ability. It is expected that veteran Mike Knuble will take his place in the line-up. The Flyers next game takes place on Tuesday against the New York Rangers.
