Hockey Community Mourns the Loss of Former NHL Defenseman Gerry Hart
Gerry Hart, a former defenseman in the National Hockey League, passed away at the age of just 75, according to the New York Islanders.
As an undersized defenseman with a reputation for playing bigger than his size, Hart won the hearts of many fans throughout his time in the NHL. He also spent time with the Detroit Red Wings, New York Islanders, Quebec Nordiques, and St. Louis Blues, garnering admirers in a variety of NHL markets.

Hart, 75, joined the Islanders as an inaugural member in 1972 and played on Long Island until 1979, reaching the playoffs five times in seven seasons.

He would play in 730 games in the NHL throughout the course of his career, scoring 29 goals and dishing out 150 assists for a total of 179 points.
