Boston Bruins Captain Patrice Bergeron Makes Clear Statement About NHL Future
One of the best defensive forwards in the history of the NHL, Patrice Bergeron has made a significant announcement about the next phase of his career.
Bergeron, a 2011 Stanley Cup champion, three-time All-Star, and record-breaking five-time Selke Trophy winner, is one of the NHL’s most coveted players and one of its all-time greatest defensive forwards.
Bergy, a native of Quebec, broke down in tears while discussing his NHL future before the Bruins’ game against the Canadiens in his hometown of Montreal.
“As you get older, you realize there’s less games ahead of you than behind and you want to enjoy and appreciate every moment and every situation. Being back in my home province, I have some family members here tonight. It’s very special.”

Of course, this could mean several things that I’m going to leave to your own personal opinion. However, based on the uncertainty following Bergeron last summer, retirement will obviously be a very real possibility, especially if the Bruins win the Stanley Cup.
A poetic send off as such, would be exactly what the 37-year-old Bergeron deserves, and the team has set themselves up perfectly for that this season.
While we may one day see Bergeron’s name in the Hockey Hall of Fame, It remains to be seen if, or when, we could see the last of Patrice Bergeron in the NHL.
