Violent Incident Caught on Camera: Player Two-Hand Slashes Opponent in the Head During Hockey Game

If you played organized sports as a kid, especially organized hockey, one of the first things your coaching staff tried to instill in you was respect for your opponent regardless of the circumstances or situation, and that it followed a code as you grew older and moved onto other teams.

This lesson wasn’t always taught well, and in some cases, the child didn’t always understand the lesson, as evidenced by the video below, where the lesson of respect for others appears to have fallen on deaf ears.

The video shows the larger kid in black and gold pushing the small child in black, white and red then skating away. As the larger kid skates away, the smaller one two hands his counterpart across the head, grazing his cage. After this happens the larger kid pops his aggressor in the face with a right hand, causing the smaller kid to fall.

Many will argue that respect should be earned rather than given, but in the case of minor sports where a child should be learning life lessons while having fun, serious consequences should be imposed on both children while their parents are present.

Since hockey is a physical sport, both children’s actions are unnecessary and unwarranted. Hopefully, those in charge will be able to take appropriate action and figure out the best way to teach them both a lesson.
