The Golden Jet Takes Flight: A Tribute to Bobby Hull

Bobby Hull, born January 3, 1939, was a Canadian hockey player who was widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all-time. Hull played for the Chicago Blackhawks, Winnipeg Jets, and Hartford Whalers over a career that spanned two decades, from 1957 to 1980.

Bobby began his professional hockey career with the Chicago Blackhawks in 1957, where he quickly established himself as one of the league’s top scorers. He led the NHL in goals for six seasons and was a ten-time All-Star. He was also a key member of the Blackhawks’ 1961 Stanley Cup championship team.

In 1972, Hull signed with the Winnipeg Jets of the World Hockey Association (WHA), where he continued to put up impressive numbers and was named the league’s Most Valuable Player three times. He played for the Jets for six seasons before finishing his career with the Hartford Whalers of the NHL.

Hull was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1983 and was named one of the 100 greatest NHL players of all time in 2017. He was also honored with numerous awards and accolades throughout his career, including the Lady Byng Trophy, the Hart Trophy, and the Art Ross Trophy.

It is with great sadness that we announce that Bobby Hull passed away earlier this morning January 30, 2023. He will always be remembered as one of the greatest hockey players of all time, and his impact on the sport will be felt for generations to come.

I grew up playing Ball and Roller Hockey day and night somewhat religiously throughout elementary and middle school. The two don't compare though when I lace up the skates and hit the ice. I live and breathe hockey beyond the perspective of "it's just a game" and I will gladly talk hockey for hours with anyone. Hockey is more than just a lifestyle, it's a culture of passionate people who make memories every time the puck is dropped. Hockey has not only helped me get through some of the hardest times in life but has created some of the best memories to date. Want to talk hockey with me? Shoot me an email: iburdetskiy@hookedonhockey.com and let's talk some hockey!
