Canucks acquire Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Conor Garland from Coyotes in 5 player trade plus draft pick
The Vancouver Canucks are sending Jay Beagle, Loui Eriksson, Antoine Roussel, the ninth-overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft, a second-rounder next year and a seventh-round pick to the Arizona Coyotes for defenceman Oliver Ekman-Larsson and forward Conor Garland.
The Coyotes will retain 12 per cent of Ekman-Larsson’s salary.
Ekman-Larsson, 30, has spent the past 11 years with the Coyotes, serving as the club’s captain for the past three. The Karlskrona, Sweden native has finished near or above the 40-point plateau from the back end six times over the course of his career, his best year being a 55-point effort back in 2015-16.
In 2020-21, Ekman-Larsson posted 24 points through 46 games, and averaged 20:58 minutes of ice per night.
Garland, 25, has amassed 47 goals through his first three NHL seasons, and posted 39 points through 49 games in 2020-21.
