Breaking News: Wild are buying out Zach Parise and Ryan Suter’s contracts
According to sources, Wild general manager Bill Guerin called both Parise and Suter to inform each of them that the team is buying out the remaining four years of each of their contracts.
Another “wild” turn of events for this NHL offseason.
From Michael Russo of the Athletic reports:
“Suter, 36, and Parise, who turns 37 on July 28, joined the Wild on matching 13-year, $98 million contracts in free agency in July 2012. The duo helped Minnesota make eight playoff appearances over the last nine seasons, after the franchise had just three postseason berths through its first 11 seasons of existence.
The moves create $10.33 million in cap space. The Wild will pay each player $6.7 million over the next eight years and be charged with $2.371 million, $6.371 million and $7.371 million cap hits in the next four years, respectively, for each, then $833,333 cap hits the four years after that for each.”
