2016-17 Winnipeg Jets Season Preview
The Winnipeg Jets are ready to take the ice for their home opener against the Carolina Hurricanes. Puck drop is on Oct. 13 at 8/7c. During the offseason, the Jets have made some changes to their roster, including naming Blake Wheeler as the new captain, and Mark Schiefele as the alternate in addition to Dustin Byfuglien.
One of the main changes for the Jets lineup is the move of goaltender Ondrej Pavelec to the AHL affiliate, Manitoba Moose. After training camp, the Jets reassigned Chase DeLeo, Nic Petan, Andrew Copp and Marko Dano to the Moose as well.
As of 10/10, Julian Melchiori, Brian Strait and Anthony Peluso have been placed on waivers.

Goaltenders

Predictions
The Jets also have this year’s Heritage Classic game to look forward to. The game will be played at Winnipeg’s Investors Group Field on October 23. This season needs to start strong for the Jets if they want to have a chance at a good run in the playoffs, or even making it to the playoffs.
With the addition of a few new young guns (Morrissey, Laine, Connor and Tanev) the Jets have fresh talent to work with to make that push happen.
The Jets have a good chance at the post season, but there will be some fierce competition in the Western Conference.
