Hockey is a business and like any business the product being sold needs to attract a sufficient amount of customers to be both profitable and stay afloat. When it comes to the NHL, the product is the entertainment on the ice and the fans are the very customers whom many times are willing to pay hefty prices to attend a game to watch their beloved team play the best game on this planet.
