Fantasy Hockey Friday #14 (2/13/15)
FHF Key
Flash Sale = Players that are on strong hot streaks that you will need to add immediately before they are claimed by another team.
Bargain Bin = Similar to the Flash Sale category, except these players will not be as highly demanded. They will be claimed relatively quickly, but are not completely known to all teams.
Line Scorers = Players that are currently very low in ownership percentage and includes less-skilled players who are currently playing on productive lines, and have proved/might prove worthy of adding. As every studious fantasy owner knows, line combinations are everything.
Flash Sale
Devan Dubnyk
– G, 69% owned – Minnesota Wild
No one could have predicted Dubnyk’s dominance with the Minnesota Wild, but since the trade, he has gone 9-1-1 with a 1.48 GAA and .943 SP, including four shutouts! This includes the game where he allowed four goals on ten shots against the Detroit Red Wings on January 20th, meaning his subsequent games have more than made up for that poor performance. The last time he was saddled with a regulation loss was January 19th, and the overtime loss came against the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday when he saved 32 of 34 shots (.941).
John Klingberg – D, 52% owned (LW: 12%) – Dallas Stars
Klingberg has scored four goals and eleven points in his last seven games, including an outstanding six power play points. He now has 10 goals and 29 points for the season, including a plus-10 rating and eight power play points.
John Gibson – G, 43% owned – Anaheim Ducks
With Frederik Andersen sidelined and Ilya Bryzgalov failing, the net belongs to Gibson now. In his last start, he saved 35 of 36 shots, allowing his team to win a close 2-1 game. He has a 2.35 GAA and .927 SP.
Mathieu Perreault – C/LW, 42% owned – Winnipeg Jets
Perreault continues to produce for the Jets. He has scored five points in his last four games, including a power play point. This gives him 18 goals and 36 points on the season. Additionally, he has 11 power play points and 116 shots on net.
Mats Zuccarello – LW/RW, 51% owned – New York Rangers
The small Norwegian winger is currently on a seven-game point streak that has seen him score four goals and nine points, including two on the man-advantage. This gives him 11 goals and 32 points. He also has a splendid plus-minus of plus-16 and 109 shots. Playing on the top line with Rick Nash has allowed him to thrive.
Tyler Toffoli – RW, 52% owned – Los Angeles Kings
Toffoli continues to impress this season, scoring five goals (including a hat trick on Thursday) and one assist in his last three games. With 18 goals and 35 points in just 48 games, he has well surpassed his rookie season total of 29 points in 62 games.
Mike Hoffman – C/LW, 16% owned, Ottawa Senators
I’m still not quite sure why Hoffman is only owned in 16% of Yahoo! leagues. He has only been held off the score sheet twice since January 21st. In his last eight games he has three goals and seven points. He now has 18 goals and 30 points, a plus-17 rating, and 118 shots.
Jhonas Enroth – G, 34% owned – Dallas Stars
No longer a Sabre, Enroth will have a better opportunities to showcase his abilities for the Dallas Stars. Starting netminder Kari Lehtonen hasn’t exactly been great this season, so Enroth will get his fair share of starts.
Bargain Bin
Curtis McElhinney
– G, 22% owned – Columbus Blue Jackets
Neither the Blue Jackets nor McElhinney have been great this season, but with Sergei Bobrovsky on injured reserve, he has really elevated his game. In his last eight starts, he has only one sub-.900 SP game. In two of his last three starts he was a brick wall, defeating the St. Louis Blues (32 for 33, .970 SP) and the Ottawa Senators (34 for 35, .971).
Andre Vasilevskiy – G, 13% owned – Tampa Bay Lightning
With the recent retirement of Evgeni Nabokov and the recent struggles of starter Ben Bishop, Vasilevskiy is there to save the day for Tampa Bay. In limited action this season, Vasilevskiy has been stellar. In his last start, his team allowed a late third period goal to arguably the best team in the NHL, the Nashville Predators, of which resulted in an overtime loss in an otherwise solid performance for the young goalie. He has relieved Bishop twice in the starter’s last two starts, saving a combined 28 of 29 shots. He now has four wins and a 2.00 GAA and .932 SP.
Mikko Koivu – C, 42% owned – Minnesota Wild
The veteran Finnish center has struggled for much of the season to produce points, much to the dismay of those teams that drafted him, but he has begun to make up for his poor offensive performance of late. In his last five games, he has scored seven points, including three on the man-advantage.
Blake Comeau – LW/RW, 15% owned – Pittsburgh Penguins
Comeau returned to the lineup earlier this week after a long absence due to a wrist injury he sustained in late December. In his first two games back he scored a goal and two assists, giving him 22 points for the season. He is on the second line with Evgeni Malkin and Patric Hornqvist.
