Alexander Semin has been added to the Russian Olympic hockey team.
This coming just a day after it was announced that Russian forward Sergei Soin will miss the Olympics with an injury. The 31-year-old Soin, who is reportedly suffering from a knee ailment, was selected as a reserve forward when the Russians announced their roster two weeks ago. The Moscow Dynamo forward was originally given priority over a number of NHL players including Edmonton Oilers Nail Yakupov and New Jersey Devils‘ Andrei Loktionov.
Semin, 29, has three goals in the past two games, and 21 points in 36 games with the Carolina Hurricanes this season.
