2023 NHL Playoffs Series Prediction: Wild vs Stars
As we continue with our First Round predictions, I believe the Minnesota Wild will defeat the Dallas Stars in 7 games.
The two clubs’ season series was split 2-2; I believe they are extremely evenly matched.
In my opinion, Dallas has a superior top six, and Miro Heiskanen is a better #1D for them. Yet, I believe that Dallas’ depth is utterly washed out by Minnesota’s, and as we have repeatedly witnessed in the postseason, depth counts.
The signing of Brock Faber was also significant for Minnesota since he will have an instant impact should they choose to play him. The additions of Marcus Johansson, Gustav Nyquist, Oskar Sundqvist, etc. at the deadline also helped fill the holes that they had.
If Linus Ullmark didn’t exist, Filip Gustavsson, one of the league’s top goalies in 2022–23, might have taken home the Vezina. He will play a significant role; if he can neutralize Dallas’ top-six, he greatly increases Minnesota’s chances of taking this series.
I wouldn’t be surprised if each game in this series were decided by a single goal (excluding empty netters).
Final Series Prediction: Wild in 7 games over the Stars.
